Planning application in Rhandirmwyn

Ref: Planning Application E/26538

Planning Application for The Camping & Caravanning Club in Rhandirmwyn

Description of proposal as outlined on the application is as follows:

SITE IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING THE CONVERSION OF 10 EXISTING GRASS PITCHES TO HARDSTANDINGS, THE RESURFACING OF THE EXISTING INTERNAL SITE ACCESS ROAD, THE INSTALLATION OF THE SITE ACCESS BARRIERS, EXTENSION TO THE OPENING SEASON TO OPEN BETWEEN THE 16TH FEBRUARY IN ONE YEAR TO 5TH JANUARY IN THE NEXT YEAR.

Dear Constituent,

Please be advised of the above planning application which you may feel will affect you as residents of Rhandirmwyn.  The application was brought to our attention at the recent Community Council Meeting.  As the meeting it was decided that in principle we have no objection to the application.  However, there was some concern about light pollution and the desire to maintain our ‘dark skies.’  The number of lights and wattage has increased from the campsite in recent years and this would be compounded if this application was granted.

The Community Council will write to the Planning department stating this observation and urging the Planning Committee to impose specific, and measurable conditions on to the planning approval to restrict the number and wattage of lights used at the site.

We understand that the chairman of the Community association will be writing a letter to this same effect.

If you feel strongly – either way – about the application you too can write to the Planning Department as resident of Rhandirmwyn before the Consultation Expiry Date of 8th June.

Your Community Councillors
