On Easter Monday (22nd April) Nigel and Barbie Davies will be holding a Cymanfa Ganu in the chapel. Nigel’s own experience of such an event goes back to the early 1960’s when each year on Easter Monday he used to attend Capel y Gopa in Pontarddulais with his Grandmother. They were wonderful occasions, and they hope to replicate the experience at Gosen – which, until the early years of this century, hosted a Cymanfa in conjunction with its mother chapel in Cil-y-cwm.
The details are;
Rehearsal 2.30pm, Tea in the vestry, Service at 6.00pm
Phillip Watkins will conduct, and the hymns chosen are all good standard fare with tunes like Llef, Blaen-y-Coed, Rachie, Sanctus etc. There will be a mix of Welsh and English words. If we get enough voices to sing the alto, tenor and bass parts they might even attempt the “Hallelujah Chorus”………
